Womanhood Unplugged

explore womanhood through my eyes

My delivery and my baby

It brings me immense pleasure to share that I, along with 24 other bloggers are celebrating #9daysofwomanhood throughout Navratri. I thank  Penelope Braganza for  introducing me. I loved her blog on the prompt for today “my delivery and my baby”

By God’s grace I had a very uncomplicated pregnancy except for mild ÌUGR ( intra uterine growth retardation ) so I was not really worried or nervous about my delivery.

We waited for completion of 38 weeks and another few days for my labour to come naturally but that didn’t happen inspite of some physical induction by my obstetrician. So, due to this and other personal reasons, we decided on the date, two days before my 31st birthday and time for our elective C section.

Me and my husband checked in the hospital ward the night before the surgery.  We happily clicked some of our last pictures with the bump!!

I had an almost sleepless night and got up and ready early in the morning. I took this picture just one hour before my surgery.

The entire procedure went smoothly except for the urinary catheter insertion which was very uncomfortable.  The surgery lasted 10 minutes and I heard my baby’s first cry.

That made me completely numb. Unlike a lot of other mothers I have known, I didn’t smile or cry. I was just numb. Then came the feeling of disbelief. I could not believe that I am a mother now and that’s my baby.

What happened after I was transferred to my private ward is a story you can read here.

I would take the opportunity to introduce Anjana Dhanavanthan who blogs at  this address. You can check out her blog on the prompt for today.

  1. How nice to have an uncomplicated delivery and for the process to be over so soon. God bless you and the little one.
